In a general sense, every Christian is called to be a deacon (the New Testament word diakonos simply means “servant”). In the New Testament, the specific role of Deacon plays an integral part in the leadership of the church. They are model servants who excel in being attentive and responsive to tangible needs in the life of a church.
At LPC, Deacons assist the Elders by caring and praying for our faith community. Deacons also provide care for a specific group of people called a flocklist (all regular attenders and members of LPC are on a flocklist). They also seek to provide meals and other tangible needs during those moments in life where you need a little extra help (births, crisis, death, etc.).
